L.E.A.R.N. has many events throughout the year.
On the first Saturday of each season (with some minor variances for weather and holidays), we have open houses at the facility. We also have booths at non-commercial, educational venues, such as the Red River Wildlife Refuge, summer camps and libraries.
Our president is a Louisiana Master Naturalist, and is happy to schedule a time to come by and talk about the indigenous animals that live in NW Louisiana. There is no charge for this service, but events do need to be scheduled well in advance.
L.E.A.R.N. also hosts educational events at our facility, such as herpetology workshops and herpetocultural workshops. If you would like to schedule a time for yourself or your group to come and see and learn about the critters, please request an event.

I attended the Herpetology Workshop yesterday and wanted to pass this on to anyone who is interested in herps (snakes, turtles, frogs, etc.)…. The workshop was excellent! Our host, Micha, covered all the basics for a general understanding of the herp world around us, with a focus on the critters here locally. We learned about environmental issues, safety, and many myths were de-mystified (look up “autotomy,” for example). And, do you know how to tell (or guesstimate, assuming you’re at a safe distance, LOL), the length of that alligator just by looking at its head sticking out of the water?
Micha was full of knowledge and enthusiasm. What I appreciated most, though, was that he presented to my level of comprehension. I never felt overwhelmed.
