Sanctuary

L.E.A.R.N. is...

L.E.A.R.N. provides sanctuary to many animals who are not candidates for adoption.   Reasons for sanctuary may range from complicated medical issues to severe behavioral issues to special permits being required for possession.

L.E.A.R.N. is particularly focused on providing sanctuary to chelonians (tortoises in particular), large lizards (such as tegus and monitors) and large snakes (such as snakes that cannot cross state lines pursuant to the Lacey Act).  We will travel as far as we are able to take in the above species.

If you have an animal with a need for sanctuary, please call or text our president at (318) 773-9393 or visit our rescue page.

Slated for construction in 2017 at the facility are large walled-in gardens for the various species of tortoises in our care.  The tortoise pens were a major factor in our acquiring our 11 acre facility.  If you would like to assist with making the pens happen, visit our get involved page or our donations page.
